Erin and Tyler Light are the current owners of Baxa’s Sutliff Store & Tavern, continuing a Sutliff tradition dating back to the 1930s. The history of Sutliff, Baxa’s Sutliff Store & Tavern, and memories of friends and families are displayed on the walls of the tavern, located about five miles north of Solon. Across the road from Baxa’s Sutliff Store & Tavern sits the historic Sutliff Bridge. Closed to traffic in 1979 it was partially destroyed in the flood of 2008 and rebuilt with dollars from fundraisers and FEMA. Top left: When first walking into Baxa’s, new customers are immediately caught by the ceilings full of hanging dollar bills – a tradition inadvertently started in the 1970s by a pair of east coast women passing through.
