Solon’s Avery Feuerbach wins JV backstroke, 2nd in individual medley

Avery Feuerbach, a freshman, won the JV 100-yard backstroke, took 2nd in the JV 200 IM (shown here), and swam the first leg of the 2nd place JV 200 freestyle relay in Iowa City High’s season opening meet Tuesday, August 26 at Kennedy HS in Cedar Rapids.

CEDAR RAPIDS — Iowa City High’s junior varsity (JV) and varsity girls swimming and diving team opened the 2025 season Tuesday, August 26 at Cedar Rapids Kennedy falling 103-83.

Solon’s Maddie Elkins, Ella Pressler, Avery Feuerbach, and Ireland Hagarty are swimming with City High this season.

Feuerbach, a freshman, won the JV 100-yard backstroke in 1:20.05 and was second in the JV 200 individual medley (IM) in 2:57.38. She also led off for the 2nd place JV 200 freestyle relay with Malorie James, Nora Langfitt, and Vivian Gustafson for a total time of 2:25.59.
