Bumsted graduates from Iowa Lakes Community College
ESTHERVILLE — The accomplishments of 335 Iowa Lakes Community College students, including Grant Bumsted (Associate in Applied Science, Powersports & Power Equipment Technology) of Solon, were celebrated during the College’s Spring 2026 Commencement Ceremony on Friday, May 15, as graduates crossed the stage to receive degrees, diplomas, and certificates marking the completion of their academic journeys.
Held at 3 p.m. on the Estherville campus, the ceremony brought together graduates, families, friends, faculty, staff, and community members to recognize the dedication and perseverance that led each student to this milestone. Graduates represented a wide range of career and transfer programs, reflecting the commitment Iowa Lakes has to preparing students for success in the workforce and beyond.
“Commencement is one of the most meaningful days of the academic year because it celebrates the determination, resilience, and accomplishments of our students,” said Scott Stokes, President of Iowa Lakes Community College. “Each graduate has worked toward a goal that will create new opportunities for themselves, their families, and their communities. We are honored to celebrate this achievement with them and look forward to seeing the impact they will make in the years ahead.”
The Spring 2026 graduating class joins more than 30,000 Iowa Lakes alumni who are making a difference throughout Iowa and across the nation. Whether entering the workforce, transferring to four-year institutions, or advancing in their current careers, Iowa Lakes graduates leave with the knowledge, technical skills, and hands-on experience needed to succeed.
Grimm named to Minnesota State Mankato’s 2026 spring semester Dean’s List
MANKATO, Minn. — The Academic High Honor and Honor lists (Dean’s lists) for the past spring semester at Minnesota State University, Mankato have been announced by Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs David Hood.
Zoey Grimm, of Solon, was named to the Honor List.
Among 4,065 students, a total of 1,300 students qualified for the High Honor List by achieving a 4.0 straight “A” average, while 2,765 students earned a 3.5 to 3.99 average to qualify for the Honor List.
To qualify for academic honors, undergraduate students must be enrolled for at least 12 credit hours for the semester.
Upper Iowa University announces Spring 2026 Dean’s List
FAYETTE — Upper Iowa University has announced that Mallory Bennett of Ely and Alexis Sorensen of Solon have been named to the Dean’s List for the 2026 Spring Semester. To be honored, a student must have earned a minimum 3.50 grade point average and be enrolled as a full-time student.
