Xavier Catholic 15 Solon 5
The Spartans traveled to Xavier Catholic in Cedar Rapids Tuesday, May 26, and fell to the Saints 15-5 with one run in the top of the first inning, one in the third, and a three-run rally in the fifth. Xavier plated two in the bottom of the first, two in the third, four in the fourth, and went on a seven-run blitz in the sixth.
Senior Dylan Gorham and junior Luke Deike led the Spartans with two hits each with three RBIs for Deike and a double for Gorham. Sophomore Luke Merrick was charged with the loss after 2-2/3 innings giving up two hits and four earned runs. He walked four and had no strikeouts.

The Spartans visited their archrivals Wednesday, May 27, for a doubleheader and took the opener 7-1 with two runs in the top of the first inning, one in the third, three in the fifth, and one as an exclamation point in the seventh. The Mustangs’ run crossed the dish in the bottom of the first.
Luke Merrick and Luke Deike produced three hits each with one apiece by Dylan Gorham, Carson Kidwell, Hayden Detra, and Brody Woolley with a double by Merrick and four RBIs from Deike, who took the win after six innings on the mound giving up two hits and one unearned run, and issuing ten strikeouts.

Solon 19 Mount Vernon 3
An 11-run barrage in the top of the sixth inning sealed the sweep against the Mustangs. Solon struck first after two scoreless innings with a pair of runs in the third followed by four in the fourth, and two in the fifth. Mount Vernon was kept scoreless until one run scored in the fifth followed by two in the sixth.
Dylan Gorham led at the plate with three hits including a double while Luke Merrick and Luke Deike produced two hits each with a double for Merrick and four RBIs for Deike. Sophomore Tate Miller was awarded the win after five innings on the mound giving up two hits, one unearned run, walking four, and striking out seven.

The Spartans welcomed Washington Friday, May 29, and exorcised the Demons 13-0 in a mercy rule-shortened non-conference outing. Luke Merrick led the seven-hit Solon offense with two including one double and three RBIs. Junior Maddox Kelley and junior Sawyer Hansel produced a double apiece with an RBI each as well. Brady Wick claimed the win after four innings on the mound giving up the only Demon hit of the night and striking out seven.
