IOWA CITY — 69 schools from across the state were represented Saturday at the 2026 Eastern Iowa Track & Field Festival at Iowa City West High School, including the varsity Spartans.

Freshman Mac Svalstad posted Solon’s best finish of the day with a third-place showing in the 400-meter dash in 49.14 seconds, just .14 seconds from hitting the Blue Oval Standard to qualify for the Drake Relays.

Other top-ten finishes for the Spartans included the 4×800 with Spencer Michels, Kaden Recker, Owen Young, and Jaimyn Bevans taking fifth in 8:22.29, Eli Kampman finishing ninth in the 100-meter dash in 11.23 seconds, and Will Brandt, Michael Bigelow, Justin Moore, and Easton Shipley taking ninth in the shuttle hurdle relay in 1:06.44.
