Three minutes.
That’s how long it took an estimated 78 kids ranging from toddlers through fourth grade (and up) who participated in the Solon Optimists Club’s annual Easter Egg Hunt Saturday, April 4 on the football field at the Solon Recreation and Nature Area.
Heavy overcast, temperatures in the low 40s, and a stiff breeze may have kept some kids home, but for those who braved the conditions had a field of 288-dozen (3,456) plastic eggs filled with candy. Among the eggs were three special gold eggs – one in the 1st graders’ field, and two in the 2nd/3rd graders’ field – each containing a tiny teddy bear.
In addition to the sweet treats participants were also able to pick out a free kite for flying on a more ideal day.
The Optimists’ next community event will be their ever-popular Bingo stand during Solon Beef Days in July.
