
David E Malatek, 77, of Marion, Iowa passed away peacefully at home on February 3, 2026.
David (Dave) Malatek was born on March 26, 1948, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Survivors include daughters Tracy (Dave) Everett, Tricia (Jamie) Wilson, and stepchildren B.J. (Kris) Pruitt and Tina Pruitt; grandchildren Mitchel (Kendra), Trevor, Madison, Macie, Autumn, Billy, Erin, Eric, Rachel and several great grandchildren, nephews and nieces and his siblings Cathy (Richard) Petry, Paul (Diane) Malatek and Jim (Terry) Malatek.
He was preceded in death by his parents George and Gladys Malatek, brothers Jeff and Vernon, sister Carol, his first wife Carol (Meskimen) Malatek (d. 1993), wife Toni (Rogers) Malatek (d. 2014) and son Troy Malatek.
Dave had a life-long love for the great outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and also enjoyed gardening. Dave worked hard his whole life and was a retired pipe insulator with Local #81. He enjoyed his retirement by spending time with his family and friends, especially his children and grandchildren, who he loved dearly. Dave also enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, watching college and NFL football and watching Jeopardy and Gold Rush.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2026, from 1-4 p.m. at the American Legion in Ely, Iowa. Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre are assisting the family at this time.
