MARION — It was top-ten finished up and down the roster for the varsity Spartan wrestlers as they placed fourth in the 2026 WaMaC Conference Tournament Saturday, Jan. 31 at Marion High School.
As has become the standard this season, Anderson Osgood and Lucas Feuerbach were crowned champions at 106 and 285 lbs. with Feuerbach earning the conference Outstanding Wrestler title as well. Osgood (39-3) won by technical fall against Benton’s Memphis Bishop (17-1, 2:00) in the 106 quarterfinals, took a 7-1 decision from CCA’s Cole Kasparek in the semis, and took a 3-1 decision from Vinton-Shellsburg’s Jackson Parmater in the finals. Feuerbach (39-1) pinned West Delaware’s Dylan Schaul in 13 seconds in the quarterfinals, pinned Independence’s Gable Eddy in 53 seconds in the semis, and won by tech fall (17-2, 3:24) in the finals.
Jayden Steapp (33-13) took 2nd place at 126 lbs. after pinning Mt. Vernon’s Camden Meyer (1:04) in the quarterfinals and taking a 16-12 decision from Benton’s Jason Eastman in the semis before falling to Independence’s Adam Carey in the finals (2:38).
Carson Kidwell (35-11) took 3rd place at 157 lbs., Jadyn Bevans (27-19) and Kyler Jensen (14-9) finished the day in 4th place at 144 and 215 lbs., and Tripp Johnson (20-26) rounded out the top-five place winners with a 5th place showing at 190 lbs.
Grayson Waddell (19-29) was 6th at 120 lbs. while Teague Williams (28-14), Evan Gleason (8-16), Michael Bigelow (12-32), and Eli Cash (21-12) were 7th place finishers at 165. 113, 138, and 150 lbs.
Justin Moore (9-31) did not place but with his early departure was able to get over to Springville where he joined the Solon Spartan Archers in Springville’s tournament and led the high school team to victory in the bullseye (traditional target) competition.
