CEDAR RAPIDS — The Lady Spartans brought down the curtain on 2025 with an appearance in Prairie High School’s Bubba Randles Winter Classic Saturday, Dec. 20, finishing 19th out of 26 teams in competition.

Brilee Moeller was Solon’s highest place-winner, taking fifth at 125 lbs.

Wren Brodersen (12-8) and Haiden Wolfe (12-13) took eighth place at 135 and 235 lbs.

Scott and Opiol win for JV

Chloe Scott and Camie Opiol were winners in junior varsity (JV) competition at 103-109 and 138-145 pounds. Scott pinned CR Jefferson’s Aliana Bolinger in 28 seconds, Pella’s Gracen Andersen in 42 seconds, and Union’s Mckayla Felderman in one minute. Opiol won an 8-7 decision from Hempstead’s Josephine Mootz, pinned Waterloo West’s Isabella Dzehverovic in 57 seconds, and pinned Jefferson’s Diamond Riggins in 3:15.

Autum Miller was the runner-up in 182-190 lbs. while Sophia Barry was fourth at 133-135 lbs.
