IOWA CITY — The Community Foundation of Johnson County (CFJC) will host its 25th Anniversary Community Celebration, featuring the launch of a new legacy society, the awarding of $250,000 in Community Impact Grants, and recognition of four Legendary Leader Award recipients. The event will be held Thursday, October 30, from 4–6:00 p.m. at the Hy-Vee Center at Centennial Park in North Liberty.
The Community Foundation of Johnson County was founded in 2000 by a committee of community leaders including Willard L. “Sandy” Boyd, Dick Schwab, and Joan Benson. Since then, the CFJC has proudly awarded over $30 million in grants, established more than 300 charitable funds, and partnered with numerous donors, nonprofits, and local leaders.
Honorary co-chairs Lisa Bluder and Dave Bluder will unveil the Heart of Johnson County Legacy Society. This initiative honors individuals who have chosen to make a planned gift to the Foundation, ensuring their values and vision for a stronger community live on for generations.
“Lisa and I are delighted to be a part of this legacy effort,” said Dave Bluder. “When you commit to a legacy gift, you’re joining a growing group of neighbors and friends who want to support sustainable change and a better future for everyone in Johnson County—long past our lifetimes.”
In addition, the CFJC will award $250,000 in Community Impact Grants during the event. These grants fund high-impact projects that address pressing needs and promote innovation, equity, and opportunity across the county.
The CFJC will also recognize four recipients of its Legendary Leader Awards. These non-competitive honors celebrate individuals, families, businesses, and organizations whose philanthropic leadership has made a lasting difference in the lives of others.
The public is invited to attend the celebration and join in celebrating this milestone moment in Johnson County’s philanthropic story.
