FAIRFIELD — The stats tell a tale of total domination as the varsity Spartans rolled over the Fairfield Trojans 77-0 Friday, Sept. 26 to open district play.
148 passing yards for Solon vs. 11 for Fairfield.
189 yards rushing vs. 78.
47 tackles vs. 16 with 13 for a loss of yards to none for the Trojans.
A fumble returned for a touchdown, a 60-yard punt return for another score.
The Spartans took a 21-0 lead in the first quarter and were up 42-0 at halftime. The second half was played under the continuous clock but another three scores went up in the third with two in the fourth. Maddox Kelley, Luis Buck, Brady White, Einar Stecher, Jackson Burk, Owen Gange, Hunter Sonntag, and Jadyn Bevans rushed their way into the endzone. Kelley took an Eli Kampman pass 57 yards to score and made the 60-yard punt return. James Thomsen recovered a fumble and scampered 19 yards to score.
The win improved Solon’s record to 5-0 as Fairfield dropped to 1-4.

Keokuk, Solon’s opponent this week for the Homecoming Game, rolled over Fort Madison 55-27 and Mount Pleasant topped Washington 44-20.
