Voters in the city of Solon and in the Solon Community School District (SCSD) will go to the polls Tuesday, Nov. 4 for the city and school election with several candidates to choose from for open seats on the city council while the school board election consists of incumbents running unopposed.
City Council
Three seats are open for four year terms with incumbents Cole Gabriel and Lauren Whitehead facing challengers Greg Morris, Tim Gordon, and Matthew Macke.
School Board
Dr. Tim Brown (current board president), Dan Coons, Cassie Rochholz, and Megan Laing are running unopposed. Coons is running for a two year term to fill a vacancy created when Jami Wolf resigned. Laing was appointed by the Board to fill the seat, which expires in 2027, until the Nov. election. Laing is seeking a full four-year term.
Two meet the candidates events scheduled
Mykle Clark, Adult Services Librarian at the Solon Public Library, is inviting all candidates to a candidates’ meet and greet Monday, October 20, at 6:30 p.m. at the library.
From 5:30-7:00 p.m. school board candidates will host an open house at the Solon Intermediate School.
