Each year, the American Library Association and libraries across the country join together to shine a spotlight on Banned Books Week. This annual event is not a celebration of book banning, but a reminder of the dangers of censorship and the importance of protecting the freedom to read.
Every reader deserves the right to choose what they read—without restriction or judgment. A story that resonates deeply with one person may not be the right fit for another, and that’s perfectly okay. That’s the beauty of a diverse and open library.
We invite you to visit the Library to explore our Banned Books Week displays. Learn more about the rise in book challenges nationwide, test your knowledge with our interactive “guess the title” activity, and most importantly—celebrate your freedom to read.
