Falyn Svalstad led the varsity girls with a seventh place finish in Solon’s home invitational Monday with a time of 20:27.4.
The varsity girls won Independence’s invitational cross country meet Thursday, Sept. 18 with Falyn Svalstad (20:11.7), Addison Seamans (20:33.1), Liv Nelson (20:44.4), and Mailee Schmidt (21:05.1) finishing third-sixth to claim the team title. Solon (36) led the ten team field with Center Point-Urbana the runner-up with 47.
Mount Vernon won Monday in Solon’s home invitational topping the Lady Spartans 41-63. Svalstad led Solon with a 7th place finish (20:27.4), Seamans was tenth (20:54.7), Nelson was 13th (21:08.0), Schmidt was 16th (21:14.4), and Quinn Armentrout and Stella Beck were 25th and 26th (22:11.6, 22:11.8).
Varsity boys third at Indee, tenth at home
Anders Holmes led the way for the varsity boys at the Independence (Indee) Invitational and at home with a sixth place showing at Indee (17:21.3) and 17th place finish in the home meet (17:51.0). Preston Raasch was second across the line in both meets (17:50.6 and 17:51.0) for 14th (Indee) and 21st while Deacon Waddell was third for the Spartans at Indee at 18:09.5 for 19th place.
Mount Vernon, Tipton, and Springville took the top-three team spots in Monday’s home invitational with the Spartans placing tenth out of the 13 teams represented. Holmes was first across the line for Solon in 17th place (17:51.0) followed by Raasch (21st,17:59.8), Charlie Pettit (44th, 19:20.5), Colton Kolar 53rd, 19:34.3), Braydon Baker (76th, 21:05.2), and Ben Yeomans (82nd, 21:56.8).
Stella Beck leads JV girls to victory in Indee
Stella Beck won the JV race at Independence in 22:46.4 with Ava Rolwes second (23:26.6), Piper Barnhouse sixth (23:46.5), Joli Sinnwell seventh (23:53.8), and Sofia Ortega tenth (24:41.2) for the team title (21 points).
Mount Vernon won the JV race Monday in Solon’s home invitational edging past the Lady Spartans 35-36. Rolwes was third (22:30.4), Sinnwell took sixth (23:31.4), Mya Fordice took seventh (23:36.4), and Piper Barnhouse was eighth (23:47.0).
Rene Meza wins home JV race
Rene Meza won Monday’s home invitational in 18:21.1, leading the JV Spartans to a fourth place finish behind Mt. Vernon-Lisbon (28), Williamsburg (46), and Xavier Catholic (83). Camden Lyons was 23rd (20:24.0) with Spencer Michels 24th (20:26), James Dooley 44th (21:43.9), and Owen Rekers 57th (22:01.0).
Clear Creek Amana won the JV race at Independence last Thursday with 25 team points as the Spartans took sixth (180). Ben Yeomans led Solon with a 44th place finish (21:15.3) followed by Carter Brock (47th, 21:21.6), Caden Mai (50th, 21:33.8), Caden Brock (51st, 21:34.21:34.4), and Ethan Ressler (55th, 21:50.6).
