The week before the official start of the nine-week high school football season is called “Week Zero,” and often provides a test for teams before hitting the gridiron for competition in Week One.
While some teams scrimmage themselves, the Solon Spartans (Class 3A) invited the Class 5A Linn-Mar Lions Friday, August 22. Being a scrimmage no scores were kept nor any stats taken among the freshmen, junior varsity (JV), or varsity competitions.
Assumption Catholic (Davenport) opens the 2025 season Friday in Spartan Stadium with the frosh/soph game starting at 5:00 p.m. and varsity to follow at 7:30 p.m. The JV travels to Assumption Thursday, August 28 for a 6:00 p.m. game.
