A retirement party and open house for Diane Stahle, retiring after 60 years of working as a hairdresser, is set for Friday, August 22 at the Solon American Legion Stinocher Post 460 from 5-8:00 p.m.
“I always knew I wanted to be a hair stylist,” Diane Stahle said.
She graduated from Americana Beauty School of Cosmetology in Des Moines in 1966 and returned home to Elkader for a year before hiring on with Peg Gaudian in Cedar Rapids. After marrying her husband Sam in 1968 the couple moved to Solon where she has been ever since seeing parents and kids, and then kids of kids.
“I took my job very serious,” said Stahle. “Did the very best I could and took great pride in my work.”
Although Stahle will miss her career, she is looking forward to spending time with her eleven grandchildren during retirement.
