GREEN BAY, WIS — Carson Reid, of Solon, hit a milestone recently as he bowled his first 300, or ‘perfect,’ game. Reid, a May graduate of Solon High School (who bowled for Iowa City High School), competed in the 2025 United States Bowling Conference (USBC) Junior Gold Championships tournament in Green Bay, Wisconsin, an annual national tournament for the top male and female youth bowlers in the United States.
Reid competed against over 1,300 fellow U (under) 18 male bowlers across the multiple day tournament. His 300 game came in the fifth round of competition – Advancer Round 1. The first four rounds whittled the field down to 192 competitors advancing to the two Advancer Rounds, which narrowed the field even more to a final 16 advancing to Match Play. The top four bowlers after 26 games of qualifying, and the champions and co-champions in each division, earn spots on Junior Team USA.
Reid scored 805 (206-210-215-174) in the first round (199th place), 870 (234-196-211-229) in the second round (88th place), 682 (145-175-191-171) in the third round (234th place), and 918 (279-196-206-237) in the fourth round (103rd place).
Reid scored 1,143 (216-300-225-228-174) in Advancer Round 1 (45th place) and scored 1,004 (184-203-199-192-226) in Advancer Round 2 (46th place), his final round of the tournament as he did not advance to Match Play.
