In addition to regular 4-H members representing Macbride’s Pride and Graham Champions at the Johnson County Fair, so too were the Solon Clover Kids, a group of junior 4-H members. Among the Clover Kids was Ashton Volkert, age 6, who joined this year.
“He was able to borrow a sheep and calf to show at the JC Fair,” said Neysa Volkert.
Ashton borrowed Sheldon the sheep from Solon’s Autumn Miller and Bambi the calf from Jessica Egly of Fairfax.
“It was a great experience and he learned a lot. He got some ribbons for participation, but there are no awards given to the clover kids,” said Neysa.
