SOLON — Music on Mainstreet, a Solon summer tradition, is back for another season of free entertainment.
Concerts are typically on Wednesday evenings at 7:00 p.m. on the Mainstreet stage in downtown Solon.
However, the eleven-week series begins on Memorial Day (Monday, May 26) with Iowa Brass performing a morning concert featuring patriotic music at 10:30 a.m. on the Mainstreet Stage. Please bring lawn chairs.
The regular concert series opens Wednesday, June 4 with the Solon Mariachi Band under the direction of Desmond Cervantez followed by Dogs on Skis for June 11. Barefoot Becky comes to Solon June 18 for a night of Polka and The Mill Street Band, featuring our Solon teachers and James McAtee, will gather June 25 for a great night of music.
The Buck Hollow Band from Decorah opens July by performing country and rock selections July 2 while Kevin Burt returns to the Solon Stage July 9 for a blues concert.. Bonnie and Mike Harrison and the Country Biscuits will be doing a concert at Meadowlark Acres (1767 Racine Ave.) Wednesday, July 16. Note that this concert is not on the main street stage as the city prepares for Beef Days.
The concerts return to the Mainstreet stage July 23 with the Funk Daddies. The Code Blues from Iowa City perform July 30 and the final concert of the series is a country night August 5 with Kickin Country.
