The Mustangs struck quickly scoring in the first minute. Junior Tucker Spence put in the equalizer some twelve minutes later when he converted a free kick into a score. Junior Ryan Locke scored on another free kick two minutes into the second half. Solon’s 2-1 lead evaporated with 11:32 as a Mustang scored on a header into the goal.
Under rules adopted this season by the Iowa High School Athletic Association and Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union, overtime periods and Penalty Kick shootouts have been abolished from regular season matches but will be allowed in postseason play when a winner must be determined to advance.
