SOLON — For the third year straight the varsity Lady Spartans golf team has claimed the WaMaC East Championship. Solon hosted the divisional meet Monday, May 5 at Saddleback Ridge and led the field with 337.

Sydney Dee medaled with 77, West Delaware’s Andrea Wubbena was runner up with 83, and Izzy Frees was third on the leaderboard at 85. Jaya Farlinger carded 87 for fourth, Taylor Jett was fifth with 88, Macy Fuller was ninth at 90, and Emma Phelps shot 93 for eleventh.

“We were excited to get to play our home course again,” said Coach Curtis Hendrickson. “We had some girls that shot their season best, which is exciting.”

The Solon girls traveled to Tipton Friday, May 9, for the Tigerette Classic, winning the event with 353. Tipton’s Paycee Sorgenfrey medaled at 82 with Sydney Dee one stroke behind at 83 for runner-up. Izzy Frees carded 85, Macy Fuller had 91, Jaya Farlinger shot 94, Taylor Jett shot 98, and Mya Miller had 101 on the day.

“We had amazing weather and the golf course was in incredible shape!” said Hendrickson.
