We’re holding a special Coffee & Community Conversations Wednesday, May 21, at 9:00 a.m. to discuss accessibility needs. How can we help you access the Library, our materials, programs and services? Enjoy coffee, treats, and great conversation! If you aren’t able to join us in-person for this conversation, we invite you to complete an online survey to help us improve accessibility for everyone. https://tinyurl.com/SPLAccessSurvey
The American Public Works Association (APWA) celebrates National Public Works Week from May 18-24. “This year’s theme, ‘People, Purpose, Presence,’ highlights three cornerstone ideals that motivate public works professionals to serve in their communities every day. Meeting the needs of people is what gives public works its sense of purpose. Many times, public works professionals will never meet those whose lives have been impacted because when things are going right, no one knows that public works is there. Yet, with or without fanfare, public works is ever present, working in the background to advance quality of life for all.” -APWA.org.
The City of Solon Public Works team can be seen around town mowing the parks, planting and watering trees, maintaining streets, plowing snow, building maintenance, providing safe water, and keeping the sewer running (and so much more). They are the heart of our community, so be sure to say “Thanks” next time you see them hard at work.
