MUSCATINE — Solon’s junior varsity (JV) and varsity girls track and field teams competed in Muscatine High School’s Dick Washburn Invitational Tuesday, April 29 with the varsity girls placing third in team points behind Prairie (Cedar Rapids) and Pleasant Valley while the JV girls were fourth behind Prairie, North Scott, and Pleasant Valley.
Kate Shafer won the varsity discus at 117’, Camie Opiol won the JV 400-meter dash in 1:07.22, and Zoey Grimm won the JV 400-meter hurdles in 1:22.69. Piper Stahle, Grace Hoeper, Jerzey Haluska, and Falyn Svalstad won the varsity sprint medley relay in 4:17.92.
Individual runner up finishes went to Quinn Armentrout (JV 200 dash, 27.85) and Shafer (varsity shot put, 37’-1-1/2”). Piper Stahle, Marin Ashbacker, Sydney Kunkel, and Kobi Lietz were second in the varsity 4×100 at 50.41; Armentrout, Ashbacker, Hoeper, and Lietz were second in the varsity 4×200 at 1:49.19; Opiol, Maddy Bogard, Vivi Schmooke,
and Olivia Bonnema were second in the JV 4×400 at 4:42.77; and Lucy Miller, Bonnema, Trea Eidahl, and Kenley Murken were second in the JV sprint medley relay at 4:53.53.
