Taking issue with Miller-Meeks’ budget vote
Mariannette Miller-Meeks is not representing the people in her district. There are 169,000 Medicaid recipients in Iowa’s first congressional district, and about 28,000 recipients of food assistance (SNAP).
On February 25th she voted to cut $1 trillion from Medicaid and food assistance programs. Why? In order to pay for $1 trillion in tax cuts to the richest one percent of Americans. Meanwhile, the cuts in assistance will mean less money in the pockets of people who need it the most, which in turn means less spending at grocery stores and other small businesses in our community, just so the rich can take another vacation in the Bahamas.
This is indefensible.
