Beginning on Monday, November 4, the Solon Public Works will begin flushing fire hydrants starting at 9:00 a.m. It is anticipated that this will last two weeks. This work is necessary to ensure the proper operation of the hydrants and to draw water through the water mains at a faster than normal rate to remove any iron sediment in the pipes.
During the flushing operations, you may experience fluctuations in pressure and/or discolored water. This condition is temporary and does not pose a health risk. Run your cold-water tap until it clears. During periods of discoloration, postpone washing clothes and limit your use of hot water until the cold water clears.
