The Solon Beef Days Committee has announced the recipients of the 2024 Beef Days scholarships.
Bob Stinocher Scholarship – awarded to Peyton Pentico. Bob (who passed away in 2016) was a founding member of Beef Days starting in 1971 with his wife Jean and a 57-year member of the Solon American Legion Stinocher Post 460 with 40 years on the Color Guard.
Larry Meyers Scholarship – awarded to Mia Stahle. Larry (who passed away in 2009) was also a long time Beef Days Committee member and was on the Johnson County Board of Supervisors at the time of his death.
Kris Brown Scholarship – awarded to Ashlyn Williams. Kris retired from three decades as the Solon Library Director and was named Solon Senior Advocates’ Senior of the Year in 2021. She also has served as the Beef Days secretary for many years and continues to enjoy her retirement here in Solon.
“These named scholarships reflect the memory or dedication for some special folks that have been involved with Beef Days over the years,” noted City Administrator Cami Rasmussen.
