The Senior Advocates’ mission has long been to provide mobility, sociability and entertainment to seniors through various activities. In 2007 we began taking seniors on area day trips to visit museums, cities and places of interest utilizing our small passenger van. Since that time, we have graduated to engaging bus company transportation to journey farther afield. Each year we design monthly trips to visit the Villages of Van Buren County, Neil Smith Wildlife Refuge, John Deere Tractor Works, or Circa 21 Dinner Theater, plus various cities of interest.
We are a very unique organization in that no other city that we know of, has consistently provided such activities for their seniors. Our goal is to continue orchestrating these activities by reaching out to new volunteers who can help plan and carry out our agenda to provide for seniors.

Thursday, August 15 – Kendrick’s Forest Products, Edgewood. Cost $75
Tour of Kendrick Forrest Products, Iowa’s largest sawmill. Then we will tour their custom cabinet shop, Forever Cabinets by Kendrick (est. 2001), where you will see how cabinets are made for the home. Next you will see and learn how the Kendrick team used their desire to eliminate waste and create quality wood products, which led them to the start two additional companies in 2017, Kendrick Home and Shimlee. Your tour will end at The Market, a 6,500 sq ft showroom where they showcase their line of Forever Cabinets, as well as home decor, lighting, rugs, furnishings, kitchenware, clothing, and so much more.
Friday, October 18 – Breitbach’s Restaurant. Cost $85. Leave SRNA at 9:15 a.m.
