A Cedar Rapids man was pronounced dead after an incident at Lake MacBride last Friday, June 13.
According to the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office the Joint Emergency Communications Center (JECC) received a report of a subject who had jumped into the water and did not resurface near the spillway into the Coralville Reservoir at 3:04 p.m.
The Iowa Department of Natural Resources, Johnson County Sheriff’s Office, Solon Fire Department, North Liberty Fire Department, Johnson County Ambulance Service, and Johnson County Metro Dive Team responded to the scene and began searching the water for the individual. At 4:19 p.m. the body of 34 year old Cesar Garcia-Pelico from Cedar Rapids was recovered.
The incident remains under investigation by the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office.
