Sparty’s Boys split with Raiders 5-2, 2-5
The Raiders visited Monday, June10 for a doubleheader. Sparty’s boys won game one with three runs in the bottom of the third inning and two in the fourth while limiting Williamsburg to two runs in the top of the sixth. Vince Steinbrech and Jackson Link produced two hits apiece with a double for Link. Dylan Gorham and Tyson Wheeler had one hit each with an RBI for Nolan Seagren, Steinbrech, and Tyler Bell. Steinbrech pitched six innings for the win giving up two hits and two runs (one earned), walking four and striking out nine. Seagren pitched one inning walking one and striking out one.
In the nightcap the Raiders plated one runner in the top of the second, two in the third, and one in the fourth and sixth while Solon scored in the fifth and sixth. Link led with two hits including his second double of the night. Brett White, Seagren, and Steinbrech had one hit each with an RBI for Seagren. Link was charged with the loss after four innings on the mound giving up four hits and four runs (three earned), walking four and striking out four. Kaden Hanson pitched three innings giving up two hits and one earned run, walking four and striking out eight.
Spartans hammer Huskies 17-6
The boys stopped off in Winterset last Friday (June 14) on their way to Omaha and the College World Series to visit the Winterset Huskies and took a 17-6 victory fueled in part by a seven-run effort in the top of the third inning. Solon opened with four runs in the top of the first, added one in the second, one in the fourth, and four in the fifth.
Maddox Kelley and Dylan Gorham produced two hits each with two RBIs for Kelley and one for Gorham. Brett White, Nolan Seagren, Gehrig Turner, Vince Steinbrech, Garret Stebral, Beau Mullen, and Josh Milliman had one hit apiece with a double for Mullen, two RBIs for Seagren, Steinbrech, and Mullen, and three RBIs for Stebral. Turner went from behind the plate to the mound for four innings and took the win giving up two hits and two earned runs, walking two and striking out four. Kaden Hanson pitched one inning giving up four hits and four runs (one earned) and walking one.
Solon improved to 15-7 overall.
