NORTH LIBERTY – South Slope Cooperative Communications and Aureon are pleased to announce that matching charity grants have been awarded to American Legion Post 537, North Liberty Community Pantry, North Liberty Library, Oxford Fire Department, Oxford Vision Committee, Safe Haven of Iowa County, Veterans Memorial in Coralville Committee and Wishes for Wildlife Foundation. The Aureon Charity Grant Committee delegates funds to projects committed to the betterment of local communities.
American Legion Post 537 (Oxford) will use funds for granite stones, flagpoles, lighting and landscaping the Oxford Veterans’ Memorial to create a lasting and honorable space.
The North Liberty Community Pantry will purchase a scale to track the weight of food and toiletries at checkout, and a cart for moving cardboard to the recycling dumpster.
The North Liberty Library will buy essential equipment for digitizing historical materials including a scanner, VCR with digital converter, a VHS-C to VCR adapter, audio cassette-to-digital converter and cart.
The Oxford Fire Department will use their funds to purchase two computers: one for training purposes and the other for emergency response teams. These computers will bolster their operational capabilities and advance their mission of serving the community.
The Oxford Vision Committee will acquire six barricades with flashing lights. These barricades will serve to block streets during large community events, ensuring a safe passage for guests and volunteers.
Safe Haven of Iowa County to acquire a cat isolation unit. This is crucial for accommodating strays, kittens awaiting adoption, cats on medical hold, and more.
The Veterans Memorial in Coralville Committee will purchase pavers to surround the flagpole in support of constructing a monument honoring all branches of the United States Armed Forces.
The Wishes for Wildlife Foundation (Amana) will use their grant funds for Phase 3 of the “Sustainable Wildlife Food Source” project. This initiative aims to establish green browse food plots for wildlife, prioritizing the conservation of pollinators to maintain natural ecosystem balance.
