JOHNSON COUNTY — Voters went to the polls Tuesday, June 4 to determine the general election ballot for November with a change in the Johnson County Board of Supervisors and challenges to two Republicans the result.
Newcomer Mandi Remington advances in Supervisors’ race
Incumbents Rod Sullivan, Royceann Porter, and Lisa Green-Douglass faced challengers Mandi Remington and Bob Conrad in a bid to retain their seats on the Johnson County Board of Supervisors. Sullivan, with nearly 20 years on the board, received 4,263 votes to advance to November’s general election. Green-Douglass, who joined the board in 2016, captured 3,925 votes and will also advance. Porter, however, was upset by Remington 3,82 –2,963. Porter has been on the board for 5-1/2 years. Conrad netted 2,387 votes.
Miller-Meeks survives primary challenge, will face Bohannan in November
Republican Mariannette Miller-Meeks survived a challenge from David Pautsch 1,159-899 and will defend her United States House of Representatives District 1 seat while taking on Democrat challenger Christina Bohanan. Bohanan was unopposed on the June 4 ballot and netted 6,235 votes in the heavily Democratic county.
Chabal and Driscoll to square off for Senate District 46
Incumbent Republican State Senator Dawn Driscoll will face Democrat challenger Ed Chabal in November for District 46, which includes Big Grove Twp. Driscoll was elected to the Iowa Senate in 2020.
