SOLON — In addition to the annual Memorial Day ceremony at the Veterans Memorial and Johnson County Freedom Rock, the Solon American Legion Stinocher Post 460 also lines the roadways of Oakland Cemetery to create the Avenue of Flags. Last Thursday evening members of Post 460, with help from the Legion Auxiliary, Sons of the American Legion, and the Solon Legion Riders as well as Scout Troop 120 and the Solon Steel youth baseball team raised the flags in advance of Memorial Day. Each flag honors an individual veteran with their name, branch of service, and years of service.
For information regarding the program and how to secure a flag to honor your veteran, go to www.solonamericanlegionpost460.com and click on “Solon Veterans Memorial & Avenue of Flags.”
