SOLON — Solon’s volunteer firefighters traded in their coats and helmets for aprons Sunday morning as they hosted their annual pancake breakfast, the second in the new fire station.
A tradition since 1963, The breakfast serves as a fundraiser for unbudgeted expenses throughout the year (such as training opportunities) and also provides the firefighters with an opportunity to meet the public in a non-emergency setting centered around community fellowship.
2,377 were served this year with help from Solon’s Scout Troop 120, Sheriff Brad Kunkel, the Ely Fire Department, Matt Tracy with the Johnson County Ambulance Service, and North Liberty Fire Chief Brian Platz.
