SOLON — The varsity Spartans moved to 6-9 overall and 3-4 in the WaMaC East last week as they defeated WaMaC West rival Clear Creek Amana 2-1 and WaMaC East foe West Delaware 3-2 before a pair of shutouts in the Life is Bigger than Sports varsity invitational tournament in Davenport.
Eli Freerks scored both goals against the Clippers Tuesday, April 30 at home. Freerks had three shots on goal in total with one apiece by Parker Mergen, Antonin Guitton, and Daniel Tearse. Zander Stookey made five saves with one goal allowed in 80 minutes in the goal.
Josiah Hale, Freerks, and Ryan Locke scored one goal each Thursday, May 2 against the Hawks in Manchester. Freerks made five shots on goal with three by Locke, and two apiece from Hale and Guitton. Stookey made four saves with two goals allowed.
Davenport North and Davenport Central blanked the Spartans 5-0 and 2-0 this past Saturday with five saves by Stookey against North and two against Central.
