SOLON — May is Older Americans Month, and in Solon that means honoring the Solon Senior of the Year as awarded by the Solon Senior Advocates. This year Marilyn and Denny Hansen were chosen and join 25 others who have been selected since 2006. The Hansen’s were recognized and received plaques presented by Sandy Hanson, representing the Solon Senior Advocates, at the May 1 City Council meeting. An open house has been scheduled for Wednesday, May 22 from 4-6:00 p.m. at the Solon American Legion Stinocher Post 460. In addition, the couple will ride in style for the Solon Beef Days Parade in a convertible.
“The Senior Advocates have named you as Solon’s Senior of the Year recipients and with these certificates, which signifies all of the things you have done for our community to better it, and to make this a better place to live. And we thank the both of you,” said Hanson.
In honor of Older Americans Month, Mayor Dan O’Neil issued a proclamation.
