SHELLSBURG — Solon’s girls golf team traveled to Shellsburg and the Wildcat Golf Course Thursday (April 18) for a triangular meet with host Vinton-Shellsburg and Independence.
The varsity girls won with 181 led by medalist Sidney Dee’s 40 while Independence totaled 215 and the Vikettes totaled 224. Solon owned the top six spots on the leader board with runner up Rylie Greazel (45), Izzy Frees (46), Mya Miller and Bailey Woolley (50), and Jaya Farlinger (51).
“Considering the wet conditions, we are pleased with the score we shot tonight,” said Coach Curtis Hendrickson. “181 is the lowest score we’ve shot this year so far and we know that we need to keep working on the little things and that we are capable of lowering our score more.”
Solon’s JV squad won with 202, the Independence squad totaled 249, and the Vikette’s had 258. Julia Steinbrech was the JV medalist with 49, Emma Phelps and Macy Fuller also carded 49 with 55 from Taylor Jett, 56 from Madalynn Harp, and 60 carded by Lyla Hahn.
