INDEPENDENCE — The Lady Spartans traveled to Three Elms Golf Course in Independence last Monday (April 15) for a WaMaC dual meet with the Independence (Indee) Mustangs. Sydnee Dee was the medalist with 43 while Izzy Frees took runner up with 46 on her scorecard as Solon’s varsity won 183-223. Rylie Greazel and Mya Miller carded 47 each with 51 from Bailey Woolley and 52 by Jaya Farlinger.
Julia Steinbrech led the JV to a 205-250 win over Indee with 42. Emma Phelps shot 48, Allison Quaintance had 54 and Madalynn Harp, Macy Fuller, and Taylor Jett carded 61 apiece.
Lyla Hahn and Ashley Farnsworth also competed with 63 and 69.
“Last season we shot that same score (183) on the same course at the beginning of May, so we feel like we are playing well, but we are still leaving strokes out there either with penalty strokes or just small mistakes that cost us a stroke here and there,” said Coach Curtis Hendrickson. “We are going to work to tighten up and continue to work to be playing our best golf by the end of the season.”
