SOLON — The varsity boys opened the 2024 soccer season with a 1-0 loss at home to Regina Catholic (Iowa City) last Tuesday (March 26). The Regals scored in the second half for the win for a 2-0 streak in the annual first match meeting. Solon won 4-0 in 2022, but Regina has won every contest since 2011 (as far back as Bound archives go). Junior Zander Stookey made two saves in 80 minutes in-goal.
Saturday (March 30) the Spartans hosted Clinton and West Branch in a triangular meet. Solon swamped the Clinton River Kings 5-0 with four goals in the first half. Individual stats were not available as of deadline. Likewise the Solon vs. West Branch score was also not available.

The Spartans hosted Mount Vernon Tuesday (April 2) in a varsity girl-boy doubleheader (after this edition had gone to print and travel to Marion Friday (April 5) with the varsity playing at 5:00 p.m. and JV to follow. Solon travels to Independence Tuesday, April 9 for a 5:00 p.m. varsity start with the varsity girls following at 7:00 p.m. Center Point-Urbana visits Thursday, April 11 for a girl-boy varsity doubleheader with the girls playing at 5:30 p.m. and boys to follow (7:30 p.m.).
