SOLON — Ruben Galvan has been named as the new head coach for the Lady Spartans’ volleyball program. Activities Director Casey Hack said Galvan is coming to Solon from West Liberty where he has led the Comets for 40 years. The Comets finished the 2023 season at 32-12 overall and were 7-2 (third place) in the River Valley conference. Their season ended in a 3-2 loss to Anamosa in the Class 3A Region 7 semifinals. The Comets were ranked No. 11 in the final 3A rankings of the season.
“We are excited to have him as our Head Coach,” said Hack.
