Say hello to March and join the fun of March Mammal Madness! This annual tournament of simulated combat competition among animals is fun and educational for all-ages. Take part in the tournament by completing a tournament bracket and return it to the Library by Saturday, March 9. Tournament brackets are available at the Library and on our website. We’ll watch the battles unfold over the course of the month, beginning Monday, March 11 with the wild card. The official March Mammal Madness tournament is organized by students and faculty at Arizona State University.
Library Events
The Friends of the Library will host their annual used book sale Saturday, March 2 from 8:00 a.m.-Noon in the Library’s community meeting room. The Friends will have a large variety of books, movies, and other items available for purchase. Thank you for supporting the Friends of the Library!
Bid high and bid often at the Solon Public Library Foundation’s 3rd Annual “Put a Bid On It’ silent art auction. Bidding will close at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 16. With generous donations from local artists and art collectors the meeting room and display case will be bursting with art. All proceeds will help to start a fund to replace the dividing wall in the Library meeting room. Thank you for supporting the Foundation and the Library!
We’re looking forward to the start of Drawing Club for 4th-8th graders Wednesdays from 3:45-4:45 p.m. in the Library’s community meeting room. This program will allow artists to spend time drawing, sketching, and browsing through books to learn new techniques. All supplies will be provided, however if an artist has a preferred sketchbook or pencils, feel free to bring those. Please note this program will not take place during spring break or summer break.
Join us Tuesday mornings at 10:30 for Storytime! We’ll share songs, books, and games with friends and caregivers. Saturday Storytime is coming up Saturday, March 9 at 10:30 a.m. We also continue to share Digital Storytime with you, anytime on your favorite device! Friendly reminder, no after school activities over Spring Break (March 11-15) but that doesn’t mean we aren’t having fun at the Library! On Tuesday, March 12 we’re having a special Teen Hot Cocoa & Conversation program from 3:30-4:30 p.m. for 6th-12th graders. On Thursday, March 14 from 2-4:00 p.m. we’ll have a special Maker’s Space: Drop In to Create! For all-ages to make use of our button maker, sewing machine, Cricut, and more.
Do you enjoy cooking and trying new recipes? If you said yes, Cookbook Club is for you! Our Cookbook Club meets monthly to share food, discuss recipes, and stay inspired in the kitchen. Each month a theme or specific cookbook is selected. On Saturday, March 16 at 11:00 a.m. we’re gathering to share meatless meals. Pick up a cookbook at the Library and try some new recipes today.
Save the date for a special program with Johnson County Master Gardeners Tuesday, March 26 at 6:30 p.m. Jackie and Chris will teach us how to plant and take care of a variety of cacti and succulents. This workshop will send you home with the confidence to help these unique plants thrive. Participants will receive handouts and an activity take away.

Regular Library hours are Monday-Thursday 9:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m. and Friday-Saturday 9:00 a.m. -5:00 p.m. Closed Sundays.
