American Legion sponsors meal in January The Wednesday, Jan. 17 senior dining meal was sponsored by the Solon American Legion Stinocher Post 460. Denny Hansen, Sgt.-at-Arms for the Post, told about several ongoing local projects and about the work they do each year for disabled veterans through the Iowa Veterans Outdoor Experience (IVOE). IVOE is a non-profit organization, which has been in Solon since 2018. IVOE specializes in veterans’ fishing and hunting trips in their mission to provide opportunities for all disabled veterans to enjoy Iowa’s great outdoors.
Last April, IVOE hosted ten female veterans on a weeklong fishing trip in the Lake of the Ozarks, and in November hosted ten veterans on a bow hunting trip in Solon. The Stinocher Post has been in existence since 1902 and was originally housed in the old CSPS Hall, which was in the building that is now home to Ruzicka’s Meat Processing and Catering.
