SOLON — The Solon Optimist Club held their annual Tri-Star Basketball Contests this past Sunday in the Solon Community Center, continuing a tradition surpassing 50 years. Optimist member Marvin Stastny observed many of today’s parents participated in the event, which tested and scored participants’ skills in dribbling, passing, and shooting.
The Optimists will host another Solon tradition – the annual Easter Egg Hunt later this spring as well as the Bike Rodeo this summer.
The Solon Knights of Columbus Randall-Steinbrech Council No. 12129 held their annual Youth Free Throw Championship in conjunction with the Optimists’ Tri-Star event with winners eligible to participate in local, district, and state competitions.
Member Mark Roskopf noted the Solon Knights have sponsored the contest since 2003 and added past State winners include Solon’s own Adam Haluska.
