Library Events
It’s not too late to register and join us for our quarterly Trivia Night Friday, January 26. Register your team (max of six) for this night of brain teasers. Teams will compete in four rounds of trivia with the general theme of fandoms. Unlike any other trivia around — teams may visit the Library early to check out up to five books for reference during play. Play begins promptly at 6:30 p.m. so be sure to arrive a few minutes early to settle in with your team. Teams are welcome to bring snacks and make a night of it! Registration is required, please visit our website calendar event or call the Library to register.
We’re midway through the school year and it’s time to share a few reminders about our early-out programs on Thursdays. BAM POW activities begin at 1:45 for 1st through 8th graders who can walk over to the Library after school to Build and Make, Play or Watch with us! CATS activities are the 2nd and 4th Thursdays at 4:00 p.m. for 6th-12th graders and include new activities along with some of our Creative Amazing Teens of Solon favorite activities.
When the winter weather creates chaos with our Thursday schedule and school isn’t an early-out, we will not have a BAM POW program for 1st-8th grades.
Please remember supervision is provided at the Library program only, absolutely no supervision is provided outside. Children under 11 must be picked up at the end of the scheduled program. All Library patrons are expected to follow our conduct policy, we recommend parents and caregivers discuss these plans and expectations with youth prior to attending programs.
As we turn the corner into February, we’re preparing for Blind Date With a Book. All month long, you can pick up a fresh “date” and try a new book without judging it by its cover. Patrons can select a book from the Blind Date With a Book display, then read and rate your date to be entered for a prize. All dates must be rated by February 29 to be entered. You just might discover a hidden gem, or a new favorite author. Try something new!
As you make plans for the Spring, keep an eye out for our Spring Activity Guide in early February. We’ll share highlights of our upcoming programs and special events for March, April, and May. It’s a great resource we’re proud to provide to our community in partnership with the Recreation department. Don’t miss out on all that Solon has to offer!
