SOLON — Students from the Solon High School Learning Center are grateful for the donations the community gave in efforts to contribute to the Holiday Service Project.
Collection bins were placed at all four schools within the Solon Community School District. Together, 156 pounds of food was collected, and seven pounds of non-edible items were received (such as toothbrushes, hygiene items, and tissues). In addition, people gave monetary donations totaling $73.32.
“Students were active in the action steps to make this Holiday Service Project a success,” said Carol Richards with Solon High School Special Education. “They created flyers, did announcements, collected bins, weighed the edible and non-edible items, counted money, and presented the collection to the food pantry in Solon. A big thanks to this giving community. The students are looking forward to a Spring Service project (when the weather warms) where they will continue their learning on how to ‘give back’.”
