JOHNSON COUNTY — Bob Conrad has announced his candidacy for the Johnson County Board of Supervisors.
“I have spent my adult life building strong relationships and serving the people of Johnson County,” said Conrad. “I’m ready to use my experience and expertise to make an even greater impact as a Supervisor.”
Conrad said, “Johnson County faces important challenges, from managing growth and protecting our environment to ensuring fiscal responsibility and investing in providing basic services. I believe we can clear these hurdles by asking for the public’s input, listening, and then acting. With this kind of open communication, we can focus on what truly matters – making our county a better place to live, work, get an education, and raise a family.”
Conrad will bring a wealth of experience and qualifications to the Board. He is a small business owner, providing over 45 living wage jobs and the ever-needed services of quality childcare in Johnson County. He has served on the County Planning and Zoning Board and the Rural Housing Trust Fund Board. Currently, he works as a Public Resource Officer with the Iowa State Patrol.
Bob has been elected by his peers to serve as their Union Director for 28 years, as well as a Trustee on the Retirement Board managing hundreds of millions in retirement funds.
Additionally, Mr. Conrad volunteers with Habitat for Humanity, 100 Men Who Care, Free Lunch Program, and is a Democratic Central Committee Member.
Conrad has two daughters and resides in the county, inside Penn Township, with his partner Julia and their two dogs Reece and Wynnie.
Three seats open on November ballot
Supervisors Lisa Green-Douglass, Royceann Porter, and Rod Sullivan (all Democrats) have their term expiring on Dec. 31 of this year. Iowa City activist Mandi Remington declared her candidacy earlier this month.
