TAMA — it was a short week for the Spartans as one winter storm postponed Tuesday’s (Jan. 9) visit to South Tama to Thursday while a second system wiped out a trip to West Delaware on Friday (Jan. 12) and again Saturday (Jan. 13).
Solon remained perfect however at 7-0 in the WaMaC East and 10-0 overall as they topped the Trojans 59-40. A 13-6 first period lead increased to a 34-22 halftime advantage and a 45-32 lead going into the final quarter.
Seniors Jake Benzing and Gehrig Turner led with 17 points apiece, senior Rylen Stiegelmeyer had 11, senior Vince Steinbrech produced eight, and junior Isaiah Zoske had a six-point night. Steinbrech led on the boards with eight rebounds, senior Austin Knight had four, Benzing and Turner made three each, and junior Nolan Seagren, senior Jace Janssen, Zoske, and senior Gavin Chhabra-Miller had one apiece.
