IOWA CITY — The League of Women Voters of Johnson County (LWVJC), with the Iowa City Public Library (ICPL), Iowa City Education Association, TRAIL (Tools and Resources for Active Independent Living) of Johnson County, and Delta Sigma Theta are sponsoring a lecture Thursday, January 25.
Matt Degner, superintendent of the Iowa City Community School District, will present House File 68: Challenges and Changes for Public Schools, a mid-year assessment of the new Iowa law known as the Students First Act, which authorizes state education funding for K-12 students who choose to attend private schools. The event will be held at the Iowa City Public Library (123 S. Linn St., Iowa City) from 6:30-8:30 p.m. with a presentation by Denger followed by a Q&A session with the in-person audience. For those unable to attend the event will be live streamed on the ICPL’s YouTube channel at www.youtube.com/thelibrarychannel, and recordings will be available on the LWVJC website at www.lwvjc.org, and on the ICPL website at www.icpl.org/video.
