TAMA — The boys’ varsity wrestling team swept a double dual meet last Thursday at South Tama County High School with wins over Marion and the host Trojans. Lawsin Sinnwell, a senior, hit a career milestone as he notched his 100th victory while Grant Wilson, Charlie Karam, and Jordan Schmidt were double winners.
“Lawsin Sinnwell getting 100 wins is a big deal,” said Coach Aaron Hadenfeldt. “He’s a kid who does whatever is asked and doesn’t question why. He trusts coaches and has the attitude and work ethic that will take him places well beyond his years as a Solon Spartan. I’m proud of him, but he would be the first to give credit to his teammates for getting him this far and I know he’s got goals he wants to cross off his list this year.”

Coach’s comments
“We had two big dual wins on Thursday, beating a South Tama team that has been receiving some recognition throughout the state, Hadenfeldt said. “I hope our guys are starting to see that they can be a pretty good dang team. Taking home the North Mahaska Invitational was nice to see after we challenged them to rise up to the occasion. We saw a bunch of teams we don’t typically see, and we left there with a pretty good showing.
We’ll look to continue it this week as we’ve got two big duals with Benton and West Delaware on Thursday and then our home invitational on Saturday. It’s also our youth tournament Sunday and our JV meet on Monday, so it’s a big week for Solon Wrestling. I’d love to see as many fans/students as possible to send our seniors out on Thursday for our final home dual.”
