SOLON — The annual process of crafting the City’s budget for the next fiscal year (which begins on July 1) has begun. Throughout the process opportunities are presented for the public to weigh in via public hearings. All meetings are held at City Hall. Wednesday, Feb. 21 – Set public hearing on property tax levy for April 3 and set proposed tax rate levy
Tuesday, March 5 – Enter proposed tax levy rate and public hearing date into DOM program to be transferred to the State of Iowa
Friday, March 15 – Cities must report to County by 3/15
Friday, March 15 – Submit Public Hearing Notice to the Solon Economist (to be published 3/21)
Wednesday, March 20 – Mailing of truth-in-taxation statements by County Auditor
Wednesday, April 3 – Hold Property Tax Levy Hearing (special meeting)
Wednesday, April 3 – Set public hearing for April 24 for the full budget (regular Council meeting)
Friday, April 5 – Publish notice of public hearing for budget adoption (to be published 3/11)
Wednesday, April 17 – Regular Council meeting
Wednesday, April 24 – Special Council meeting: public hearing on budget adoption and Council vote to adopt the FY-25 budget
