SOLON — The Solon Public Library hosted their annual Noon Year’s Eve event this past Saturday in a new venue as the festivities moved to the Solon Methodist Church’s Family Life Center.
“We count down to noon for the kids so they don’t have to stay up late,” explained Lily Smith, Youth Services Librarian. “We’ve been doing this for quite a few years now and it got so big last year (at the library) that we could barely move, so we decided to move it to the Family Life Center this year.”
500 balloons rained down upon the 236 attendees right on schedule.
“We think it’s a great way to have families celebrate the new year with little kids and give them an opportunity to go somewhere and enjoy that time especially with the break, and then be crazy somewhere that’s not their house,” said Smith. “They can run around in here, there’s plenty to do, and the kids can actually go wild without destroying their house. They can also celebrate the new year without having to stay up until midnight, and they can still find it special.”
